CPWR Develops Construction Noise and Hearing Loss Prevention Training Program

Hearing loss is a serious problem for workers in the construction industry, with three out of every four construction workers being overexposed to noise on a jobsite. That is why hearing loss prevention is a priority for the OSHA-NIOSH-CPWR r2p Working Group. In order to understand more about noise exposure and hearing loss prevention, CPWR used its Trainers and Researchers United Network to conduct multi-trade surveys of trainers and workers. Research Participants Needed for Study on Heat Safety for Construction Workers

The multiple efforts to develop standards to address occupational heat stress emphasize that hazard’s impact on construction workers, which include increased risk of traumatic injuries like falls, decreased physical work capacity and life-threatening illness in the form of heatstroke. CPWR has begun a study to better understand the impacts of heat stress and to develop effective strategies for managing it. CPWR Offers Resources to Help Protect Construction Workers from Head Injuries

Between 2021 and 2022, almost 450 construction workers suffered a fatal head injury, and another 11,600 had injuries severe enough to force them to miss work.
