Brasfield & Gorrie recently joined Georgia Aquarium representatives, Atlanta, Georgia public school students and local community partners to break ground on the Aquarium’s Expansion 2020 project. The effort will change the face of the aquarium by adding a new four-story structure that will complement the existing building’s iconic boat façade. It will also include a 1 million gallon shark exhibit. The shark exhibit will be the focal point of the 104,100-square-foot expansion. MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Turner Construction Company is beginning the first phase of a $10.6-million expansion and renovation of the University of Memphis’ athletic training facility on its Park Avenue campus in Tennessee. The project is the first phase of the indoor football practice facility, which will expand the Billy J. Murphy Athletic Complex by 25,000 square feet and includes the renovation of adjacent areas within the complex, which are used for training by the university’s football and other collegiate sports teams. Enhancements and expansion of the airport’s interim International Arrivals Building took center stage recently at a ribbon cutting marking completion of the $8.2-million first project. Just in time for the start of second-semester classes, College of Lake County finished moving into a completely remodeled C Wing, which marked the final phase of Mortenson Construction’s multi-year, $50-million renovation and expansion project at the school’s main Grayslake, Illinois campus. Starting in 2015, Mortenson demolished and rebuilt 190,000 square feet and added 30,000 square feet to the community college’s primary two buildings. Skanska Awarded Contract to Develop Virginia Tech Biomedical Research Addition

Skanska USA has been awarded a $68-million contract to complete the Virginia Tech Carilion Biomedical Research Addition, a 140,000-square-foot building on the Virginia Tech Carilion Health Sciences and Technology Campus in Roanoke, Virginia.
