The Design-Build team of Gilbane Building Company, K2M and Lakeland, The Construction Group broke ground on the new Lake County Sheriff’s Office in Painesville, Ohio. The correctional facility, located across the street from the county’s current jail, will increase the capacity from 355 to 504 beds over three and a half floors and 250,000 square feet. It is designed to enhance the criminal justice system with innovations in inmate supervision, mental health treatment, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, medical care and post-release supervision through intensive probation. The project is scheduled to open in the summer of 2027.
