One of Chicago, Illinois’ oldest transit stations has received a complete makeover via the Chicago Transit Authority, Walsh Construction and a diverse local workforce. IWR North America recently completed work on the $380-million renovation of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Arch Visitor Center, located in St. Louis, Missouri. IWR started work on the project in March 2017 and completed their work this summer. Gilbane Building Company recently celebrated the leveling out of the Virginia Department of General Services General Assembly Building in downtown Richmond, Virginia. The leveling-out ceremony marked the full demolition of the 420,000-square-foot General Assembly Building, originally built in 1912. All that remains, supported by an intricate framework of steel, is the historic 105-year-old façade. Located on the corner of Ninth and Broad Streets, the original six-story 1912 building was built with an elaborate exterior limestone façade that features three-story Corinthian-style pilasters. A Hathaway Dinwiddie and AECOM joint venture has been selected by the University of Southern California to manage the $270-million renovation of the renowned Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Construction is underway at the historic sports facility, which was recently commemorated with a groundbreaking ceremony.
