Rice University recently broke ground on the highly anticipated new parking garage and office annex project on the Houston, Texas campus.
The six-story, 66,710-square-foot office building will house up to 295 work spaces, depending on office layouts. The east side of the building will be connected to a new seven-level parking garage with 450+ parking spaces. The building will feature terracotta fins that control the amount of natural light into the offices, while the parking garage will be disguised with leaf images displayed on large plastic scrims attached to the sides of the garage. The building will be located parallel to the road that connects Entrance 3 to College Way/Loop Road.
The new facility is scheduled to be completed summer 2017.
Kieran Timberlake is the architect for the project; J.E. Dunn is the general contractor.
