Cairo Governor Inaugurates Pedestrian Bridge of the National Cancer Institute

Major Gen. Khaled Abdel Aal – Greater Cairo governor recently inaugurated the pedestrian bridge of the National Cancer Institute at Qasr Al Aini Street (Cairo). Serving a wide range of the NCI’s patients and citizens, it enables safe road crossing and eases traffic movement.

This was in the presence of Eng. Ashraf Helmy, manager of roads and transportation directorate in Cairo Governorate; Eng. Hassan Moustafa, manager of bridges and specialized structures carrying out the works; Eng. Mohammed Gamal El Din, managing director and Eng. Ahmed Awad, project manager.

While the pedestrian bridge includes two elevators and is located in an area with many hospitals, ministries and companies, the project also faced the challenges of utilities diversion for water and sewage. During construction, other challenges included the piling works, loading piles, excavation, blacksmithing, columns work, formworks and concrete pouring. Lastly, the finishing works included the installation of the granite for walls, stairs and floors, sandstone repairs and six metal windows.

Participating departments in the project implementation were the Tunnels Dept., the Complementary Works, Shoubra Branch, Ready Mix Concrete Dept. and Laboratories Dept.
