Exploring 3 New Major Venues for Asian Games in Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center

On April 22, the video broadcast of the three major venues for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, which was invested, built and operated by CSCEC, was aired with more than 1.2 million people viewing it online on mainstream Chinese media.

Located on the south bank of Qiantang River, with a total construction area of 582,000 square meters, the three venues include the main arena, the aquatics center and the comprehensive training center in Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center.

The combination of the main arena and the aquatics center is the largest-connected nonlinear modelling in the world, like a silver butterfly. Among them, the main arena accommodates 18,000 seats, including 15,000-fixed seats and 3,000-movable seats and the aquatics center accommodates 6,000 seats.

The 1,800-square-meter ice hockey arena can be changed into a basketball court in six to eight hours, which is the only one of its kind in Zhejiang Province that can hold international competitions, and it can undertake large-scale matches such as figure skating, short track speed skating and basketball. The aquatics center includes a swimming pool and a diving pool. Among them, there are eight swimming lanes in the swimming pool, which will produce 41 gold medals and the diving pool, with a water depth of six meters, will hold the diving competition, which will produce 13 gold medals.

Special junction boxes for 4K high-definition TV broadcasting are set up around and at the high position of the venues, and in the press conference halls and media areas. 4K competition real-time publishing systems are set up in the public areas and functional rooms of the venue, bringing the ultimate audio-visual feast to athletes and spectators.

At present, the preparations for various Asian Games events are progressing steadily and efficiently. The project operation will undergo stress tests through event drills to test the venue performance, and it is expected to hold the first match in June.
