The new Mitikah mixed-use development recently opened in Mexico City, and includes the largest retail center in Latin America. Stantec provided retail design as part of the larger project design team with Cesar Pelli, Enrique Norten, SMA and Colonnier y Asociados. The builder was Parks.
The expansive development will be home to residential and commercial space, including a movie theater, major department stores and more than 280 retail spaces spanning five floors, adding up to nearly 1.29 million square feet.
In addition to the five-story shopping center, the mixed-use complex features three high-rise towers in its present phase of development. The first building, all residential, houses 675 apartments for purchase, and spans 876 feet, over 65 stories, making it the tallest building in Mexico City. The second tower offers 700,000 square feet of office space for tenants and stretches above 558 feet, over 35 floors. The third tower houses doctors’ offices.
The meandering retail network spills out onto a generous public plaza with green spaces and a multitude of restaurants that help connect the site to the existing streetscape and urban fabric.
Mitikah is located south of Mexico City, strategically located in an area that is accessible with both pedestrian access and access to Coyoacán metro link.
