Construction of Iconic Addition to Dubai’s Skyline Completes

BESIX in the Middle East, and its South Korean Partner SsangYong, have completed the construction of the Atlantis The Royal, the newest iconic addition to Dubai’s skyline in the United Arab Emirates. The resort encompasses six towers, a magnificent podium, 795 rooms and suites and 231 serviced apartments — some of which have private pools and terraced gardens. An impressive skybridge, including a pool and outstanding lounge area, connects the towers at 95 meters above the ground.

Located on the crescent of Palm Jumeirah, the Atlantis The Royal commands attention with its extraordinary design. It comprises of six towers reaching heights of up to 185 and 165 meters above sea level. The towers are connected by a 45-meter skybridge 95 meters above the ground.

Atlantis The Royal represents a new era of ultra-luxurious living with 12 swimming pools, a beach and night club, 3,000-square-meter wellness haven and 17 restaurants and bars, including eight celebrity chef restaurants. Topping it off is the rooftop featuring a 90-meter infinity sky pool with breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai skyline.

The project was demanding from start to finish. A major milestone was the lifting of the 1,260 ton, 45-meter skybridge by strand jacking, a precise operation. The skybridge was first constructed on the roof of the main lobby, and then gradually raised to its final height of 93.5 meters. It then took another month to securely attach it to the existing structure and complete all necessary connections.

Atlantis The Royal is located near the original Atlantis hotel, Atlantis The Palm, forming the ultimate entertainment destination. The two hotels boast two kilometers of beachfront, making it the largest uninterrupted stretch of privately owned beachfront in Dubai.

Atlantis The Royal opened to the public Feb. 10.
