DMCC’s Uptown Tower in Dubai, UAE has earned three prestigious accolades at this year’s Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat Awards of Excellence led by Design-Builder BESIX.
Uptown Tower, an integral part of Dubai’s skyline, reflects DMCC’s strategic vision to enhance the architectural landscape of Dubai and set new standards in smart, sustainable urban planning. For BESIX, the tower marks a significant milestone in its ongoing effort to transform the construction landscape, ensuring the integration of aesthetic appeal with environmental responsibility.

Innovative construction technologies: Features 27 elevators, including the first installation of Schindler 7000 double-deck elevators in the Middle East and a pioneering robotic system for elevator installation.
Sustainability efforts: Home to the world’s largest solar power installation on a construction site and aiming for LEED Gold certification.
Efficiency and safety in design: The integration of advanced digital tools enhanced efficiency and safety during the construction phase, even amidst challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic.
Resource efficiency: The tower’s water-saving systems were integrated to encourage responsible resource use, while its segmentation into residential, commercial and hospitality spaces optimizes energy efficiency.
Safety and workforce management: The Design-Builder maintained a strong safety record throughout the construction of Uptown Tower, underscoring rigorous safety protocols and commitment to the well-being of its workforce.
Construction scale: The project involved the installation of 8,542 glass panels. At its peak 3,300 workers were onsite daily. Over 23,000 concrete trucks delivered approximately 140,000 cubic meters of concrete, alongside 30,000 tons of steel used for reinforcement, illustrating the project’s substantial scale and the complex logistical operations involved.
The CTBUH Awards ceremony will take place in London this September.
