STRABAG Subsidiary to Deliver Major Construction Project in Amsterdam

The Dutch subsidiary of STRABAG, ZÜBLIN Nederland B.V., will carry out a major residential construction project in Amsterdam (Netherlands) worth around 139 million euros for Greystar.

The three-part building complex — &Amsterdam — with a total gross floor area of 57,017 square meters, will be built in the Amstel III development area located in southeast Amsterdam, an area undergoing a transformation from a monofunctional office district into a lively urban neighborhood. The project consists of three buildings with a total of 561 multifamily apartments on a living space of 48,000 square meters, supplemented by 1,000 square meters of commercial space and an underground car park with approximately 200 parking spaces.

The 561 apartments are divided into different segments: social rental, mid-rental and free-sector rental. The unit sizes vary between 30 and 120 square meters. Roof gardens contribute to the green appearance and quality of life, and the 77-meter, 45-meter and 30-meter-high buildings are grouped around a shared courtyard garden. On the ground floor of the ensemble, there’s commercial space for restaurants, retail or services, as well as common areas for residents.

From a visual standpoint, various façade finishes give the project a dynamic, yet cohesive appearance. Another key feature of the design is the integration of sustainable technologies. The building ensemble is equipped with a thermal heat storage system, solar panels on the roof and a rainwater system that discharges the collected water into the sewerage system with a time delay. After its completion in spring 2028, &Amsterdam will fulfill energy-efficiency class A++. A BREEAM certification (Excellent).
