The APOD is a military air logistics base for receiving and handling personnel, equipment and materials. The project is based on the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement between Poland and the U.S. The new infrastructure strengthens defense capabilities and improves the logistical and operational capabilities of the allied forces stationed in Poland.
PORR will deliver five key components for the APOD:
- Aircraft parking apron with four stands for C-5 Galaxy transport aircraft
- Aircraft parking apron with three stands for C-130 Hercules aircraft
- Taxiways connecting to the aprons
- Military fire station building
- Airport duty technician facility.
The completion of construction works and certification of the military airport infrastructure as part of the international airport are scheduled for 2029. The APOD will then also have full operational readiness to accommodate military aircraft.
