Bouygues Construction, through its subsidiary Bouygues UK, has been awarded the contract to build Overdale Acute Hospital in Jersey, in the Channel Islands. The hospital is the cornerstone of the Government of Jersey’s New Healthcare Facilities Program.

The Overdale Acute Hospital, covering a total area of 47,500 square meters, will include an emergency department, six operating theaters, inpatient beds, intensive care beds and a mother and baby unit. The project’s environmental impact will also be a top priority, with a focus on optimized design, energy efficiency and low-carbon materials, as well as a biodiversity net gain of more than 10%.

One of the project’s main challenges will be addressing the specific logistical considerations linked to a large, complex scheme, as well as accommodating the estimated 800 people working on site at peak times. Construction will begin later this year as development plans draw to a close, and the new facility is scheduled to open in 2030.
