On June 16, BAM Infra, one of Royal BAM Group’s operating companies in the Netherlands, began to 3-D print the world’s first fully structurally pre-stressed concrete cycle bridge. Balfour Beatty’s M3 project in Surrey and Hampshire has become the latest road in the UK to be upgraded to a smart motorway. The contract with Highways England is set to improve journey times for 130,000 drivers who use the road each day by converting the hard shoulder into a fourth lane and the introduction of cutting-edge technology. Bechtel Selected to Build First Expressway in Kenya
Bechtel has been selected by the Kenyan National Highways Authority to build the first high-speed expressway in the country. The new 294-mile (473-kilometer) route will vastly improve the connectivity, efficiency and safety of road transport between Nairobi and the country’s main seaport, Mombasa, and will reduce the journey time from over 10 hours to less than four hours. Skanska has signed a contract with Locum to rebuild and expand Saint Görans Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden. The contract is worth about SEK 1.3 billion (USD $153 million). The project includes rebuilding the existing hospital buildings and two completely new buildings that will contain facilities for care and treatment, delivery and reception.
