The Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust was joined by BAM to celebrate the opening of the new Trelawny Scanning Suite and Haematology and Oncology Ward in Truro, England, almost three years to the day when building started. Construction of the new extension to the Trelawny Wing is the culmination of over 250,000 person-hours, by 1,500 individuals. Major Milestone Achieved on Port of Beaumont Main Street Terminal 1

A major milestone has been achieved on the Port of Beaumont (Texas)’s Main Street Terminal 1 project — driving the last concrete pile after a year-long process. The milestone was recently commemorated with an event attended by officials from the Port of Beaumont, general contractor McCarthy Building Companies’ employees and trade partners. McCarthy’s project scope includes demolition of a collapsed dock structure and construction of a new general cargo dock with a roll-on/roll-off terminal. Department of Labor Proposes Rule to Clarify PPE Standard, Ensure Safety of Construction Industry Workers

The U.S. Department of Labor announced a notice of proposed rulemaking to clarify the personal protective equipment standard for the construction industry. The current standard does not state clearly that PPE must fit each affected employee properly, which the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s general industry and maritime standards do. The proposed change would clarify that PPE must fit each employee properly to protect them from occupational hazards. The topping out of the Women’s Sports Program Expansion project at Clemson University in South Carolina was recently celebrated. The project expansion has reached its full height for new and upgraded facilities that will serve lacrosse, gymnastics and rowing teams. Brasfield & Gorrie is the general contractor on the project.
