University of Virginia stakeholders and faculty recently celebrated the groundbreaking on the expansion project for UVA’s McIntire School of Commerce, located in Charlottesville, Virginia. The celebration included site tours to view demolition and historic preservation efforts, as well as a ceremony that featured remarks from university leaders. DPR Construction is serving as general contractor on the project. Design-Build Team Delivers Pawprint Park for Ohio University Students, Community

Ohio University students, faculty and administrators recently celebrated the opening of Pawprint Park. The project is located at Ohio University’s South Green in Athens, Ohio, and features two Bobcat pawprint-shaped outlines. One of the pawprints is designated as a campus hammocking area, and the other serves as an open space for students and communities to gather on campus and hold special events. Pawprint Park was a Design-Build collaboration between Barton Malow and Hasenstab Architects that consisted of two phases. Middle Tennessee State University officials recently cut the ribbon to officially open the new $40.1-million School of Concrete and Construction Management Building. The 54,000-square-foot facility will be an integrated and experiential learning laboratory for 135 concrete industry management majors and 200 commercial construction management students — a major change from the roughly 9,000 square feet of space they’ve been using in the Voorhies Engineering Technology Building. Construction Begins on 127K-SF Miami-Area Children’s Hospital Tower

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital leaders and supporters joined together recently for a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the launch of the next phase of the hospital’s master facility plan, construction of a 127,000-square-foot surgical tower slated for completion in 2024. The tower will rise four stories above the hospital’s emergency department, located at the center of the main campus near Coral Gables, Florida.
