BESIX Contributes to New State-of-the-Art School Campuses in Abu Dhabi
The Abu Dhabi Investment Office, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, has awarded the contract for the Zayed City Schools public-private partnership project to a consortium led by BESIX and Plenary Group. The Zayed City Schools PPP project, located in the United Arab Emirates, includes the design, build, finance, maintenance and transfer of three new school campuses with a capacity of 5,360 students in Abu Dhabi’s Zayed City. Healthcare Building at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Tops Out
The Clark Construction team delivering the P-114 Medical Center Addition and Alteration at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland reached a significant milestone with the completion of structural concrete on the medical campus’s new healthcare facility (Building C). Members of the construction team joined representatives from the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, the Defense Health Agency, Medical Facilities Program Office, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Command and the project’s craftworkers recently to commemorate the milestone with a topping-out celebration. Winner Announced for 2022 Liberty Mutual Safety Innovation Award in Construction
The finalists for the 2022 Liberty Mutual Safety Innovation Award in Construction were announced at CPWR’s annual Research to Practice Seminar and Workshop in June. The award — sponsored by Liberty Mutual Insurance and administered by CPWR — recognizes innovative Evidence-Based technologies, work practices and programs (interventions) designed to reduce or eliminate construction hazards that lead to injuries and pain in the construction industry. New Standard to Help in Design of Barriers in Building Construction
A new ASTM International standard will describe in detail the design and specification process for water vapor transmission properties of water-resistive barriers and air barriers in building construction. ASTM’s performance of buildings committee developed the new standard, which will soon be published as E3127. ASTM International member Danko Davidovic says that the new standard will explain how WRB/AB systems perform in different wall and roof assemblies in various climates when the moisture migration by water vapor diffusion is taken into consideration.
