Marcum LLP released its second annual survey of the national construction industry. Survey responses highlight the construction industry’s comeback, with optimism on the rise as GDP climbs and unemployment drops. The Marcum National Construction Survey covers a range of topics, from top priorities to problems, strategies, possible solutions and the effects of the pandemic. Ground Broken on Harkers Island Bridge Replacement Project for North Carolina DOT

Ground was recently broken on the $60-million Harkers Island Bridge Replacement project on behalf of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The project will replace two 50-year-old bridges to increase capacity for emergency access and evacuation, and reduce congestion and delays for marine vessels and vehicular traffic. Balfour Beatty is serving as general contractor on the project. A single, 3,200-foot-long fixed-span bridge will be constructed to replace the existing Earl C. Boston University recently celebrated the completion of a $115-million renovation and expansion of the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, located in Massachusetts. The project transforms the existing dental school facility, expanding and improving predoctoral clinical spaces, integrating the new preclinical Simulation Learning Center into the facility and supporting student collaboration and peer-to-peer learning.
