Construction of Africa’s Tallest Tower Begins

Besix has been awarded a contract for the construction of the new 282-meter-tall F Tower, the sixth skyscraper in the business district of the city of Abidjan, southeast of the Ivory Coast. When completed, the F Tower will reportedly be Africa’s tallest tower. Besix will be handling site management, as well as civil engineering works, which begin this month on the basis of the existing foundations. New Passenger Terminal Dedicated at Prescott Regional Airport

The completion of a new passenger terminal at Prescott Regional Airport Ernest A. Love Field was recently dedicated and placed on display for the Prescott, Arizona community. The $13.9-million terminal, which was built by the team of general contractor Willmeng Construction Inc., and heavy civil construction firm Fann Contracting, replaces the former terminal that dates back to the 1940s and brings to the airport a larger, modern and aesthetically appealing facility with hopes to attract more carriers to the fast-growing region. Association Officials Report Construction Employment Declines by 7,000 in June

Construction employment declined by 7,000 between May and June as the industry still employs 238,000 fewer people than before the pandemic, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of government data. Association officials said that job losses in the nonresidential construction sector offset modest monthly gains in residential construction as many firms struggle with worker shortages, supply chain disruptions and rising materials prices. “It is hard for the industry to expand when it can’t find qualified workers, key building materials are scarce and the prices for them keep climbing,” said Stephen E.
