COVID-19 Cuts Nonresidential Construction Employment in March, Says ABC

Construction industry employment declined by 29,000 in March, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors’ analysis of data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Nonresidential construction employment declined by 24,600 in March. All three nonresidential segments registered job losses, with the largest decrease experienced in nonresidential building (-10,700) followed closely by heavy and civil engineering (-10,200). A 450-bed hospital, built inside the Miami Beach Convention Center located in Miami Beach, Florida, was completed more than a full day ahead of a very aggressive two-week schedule, ensuring the facility is ready, if needed, before the anticipated peak of COVID-19 in South Florida.
