Renovation projects at two of metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia’s historical educational institutions: Spelman College in Atlanta, the nation’s oldest historically Black college for women, and Agnes Scott College in Decatur, a historically female university serving Atlanta for over 130 years, are complete. The $1.5-million projects add specialized amenities to both campuses. Swinerton Builders served as the general contractor on both projects. Encompassing a new cargo building and ancillary ground service equipment maintenance building, the redevelopment project will allow the airport to meet growing cargo demands and improve operations efficiency and safety. CPWR Develops Construction Noise and Hearing Loss Prevention Training Program

Hearing loss is a serious problem for workers in the construction industry, with three out of every four construction workers being overexposed to noise on a jobsite. That is why hearing loss prevention is a priority for the OSHA-NIOSH-CPWR r2p Working Group. In order to understand more about noise exposure and hearing loss prevention, CPWR used its Trainers and Researchers United Network to conduct multi-trade surveys of trainers and workers.
