NAWIC Philadelphia Foundation, NEST Partner to Bring Hands-On Construction Camp for Girls

Middle school and high school-aged girls from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area will attend a complimentary in-person construction camp this summer to provide real-world experience, mentorship and education about the opportunities that exist in the construction industry, regardless of gender. The camp is called MyWIC, which stands for Mentoring young Women In Construction, and will take place two days per week in Philadelphia between July 12 and Aug. 17. ABC’s Sizemore to Serve on OSHA Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health

Greg Sizemore, Associated Builders and Contractors vice president of health, safety, environment and workforce development, has been appointed by the U.S. Department of Labor to serve as a representative for U.S. construction employers on the Occupational Health and Safety Administration’s Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health, which provides advice and assistance to the assistant secretary on occupational safety and health in construction standards. Design-Build Team to Construct New Placer County Health and Human Services Center

A Design-Build contract for the $79.8-million Health and Human Services Center, by the Placer County board of supervisors, was recently awarded to the Turner Construction Company/AC Martin team. The new facility is included in the county’s recently updated master plan for the Placer County Government Center, and will help consolidate existing staff and services from six divisions into a 142,000-square-foot facility in North Auburn, California.
