Modular Building Institute, Center for Offsite Construction to Launch Accreditation Board for Offsite Construction Education

The Modular Building Institute and the Center for Offsite Construction at New York Institute of Technology have partnered to create the Accreditation Board for Offsite Construction Education, a new independent nonprofit organization dedicated to accrediting university degree programs in offsite construction. The new accrediting body will help colleges and universities build rigorous undergraduate and graduate degree programs that prepare students for careers in offsite construction, a field that combines architectural design, engineering systems, manufacturing processes, supply-chain logistics, transportation, site assembly and coordinated project delivery. Ramtech Receives Top Honors for Modular Police Facility in Texas

Design-build construction firm Ramtech Building Systems has received a first-place Awards of Distinction trophy at the 41st annual Modular Building Institute 2024 World of Modular Conference and Tradeshow. Over 1,500 attendees gathered at the sold-out conference for networking opportunities and to hear speakers and presenters from across the world. Ramtech received the award in the Relocatable Modular Correctional category for the 4,760-square-foot police station and short-term holding facility built and installed for the city of Clyde, Texas. New Standard Available on MEP Systems Used in Off-site Construction

The International Code Council, in partnership with the Modular Building Institute, has published ICC/MBI 1210-2023, Standard for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Systems, Energy Efficiency and Water Conservation in Off-site Construction. This American National Standard is now part of ICC/MBI’s existing series of off-site construction standards, including ICC/MBI 1200-2021 and ICC/MBI 1205-2021. ICC/MBI Standard 1210 includes the componentization and modularization of elements of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and the incorporation of MEP systems in componentized, panelized or modularized building elements. 2022 World of Modular Returns in Hybrid Fashion

After being all-digital in 2021 due to COVID concerns, the Modular Building Institute’s 2022 World of Modular conference and tradeshow returned and attracted over 1,000 in-person and digital attendees from more than 20 countries. The modular building industry event drew modular construction professionals to network, exchange ideas, learn from experts, discuss issues, and receive recognition at the La Cantera Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas. International Code Council, Modular Building Institute Release New Standards for Offsite Construction

The International Code Council and the Modular Building Institute have published two new comprehensive standards that will accelerate the offsite construction industry. ICC/MBI 1200-2021 Standard for Off-Site Construction: Planning, Design, Fabrication and Assembly and ICC/MBI 1205-2021 Standard for Off-Site Construction: Inspection and Regulatory Compliance are intended to promote consistency around the globe of regulatory requirements for offsite construction processes.
