The International Code Council’s annual Building Safety Month begins this week and continues through May 31. For 46 years, Building Safety Month has helped people understand the impact that building codes have on their daily lives. This mission has become even more important as communities face challenges like extreme weather events, aging infrastructure and evolving construction technologies. Call for Committee: Off-Site and Modular Construction Standard Consensus Committee

The International Code Council is seeking manufacturers, builders, designers, plan reviewers, government officials and inspection agencies to volunteer for the Off-Site and Modular Construction Standard Consensus Committee. The application deadline is May 15. As an ANSI accredited standards developing organization, ICC has partnered with the Modular Building Institute in the continued development of three existing comprehensive standards for off-site construction. International Code Council Honors Building Safety Professionals with 2025 Awards

During its 2025 annual conference in Cleveland, Ohio, the International Code Council recognized individuals and organizations within the building safety industry who stand as examples of industry excellence. Award winners include: The Bobby J. Fowler Award honors the legacy of the organization’s first chair of the board of directors. Andy Higgins Appointed to International Code Council Board of Directors

The International Code Council appointed Andy Higgins, customer success division executive director for the city of Seattle, Washington, Department of Construction and Inspections, to its 2024-25 Board of Directors. Appointed by Code Council Board President David Spencer, CBO, and ratified by the full board, Higgins assumed a vacated director at large seat on June 10. Higgins brings over 28 years of experience in permitting, construction management and building inspection to the board.
