The American Society of Concrete Contractors published its 45th position statement, “Managing Concrete Projects: Concrete/Steel Price and Delivery Volatility Risks.” ASCC position statements clarify the concrete contractors’ point of view for architects, engineers, owners and others. Position statement 45 explains that the recent unpredictable market fluctuation and supply shortages for materials are beyond the contractor’s control, making it difficult to maintain the costs and schedules anticipated at bid time. The position statement calls for early involvement in project design for the concrete contractor and its suppliers to best manage the material supply chain.
