Major Milestone Celebrated at Virginia General Assembly Building

Gilbane Building Company recently celebrated the leveling out of the Virginia Department of General Services General Assembly Building in downtown Richmond, Virginia. The leveling-out ceremony marked the full demolition of the 420,000-square-foot General Assembly Building, originally built in 1912. All that remains, supported by an intricate framework of steel, is the historic 105-year-old façade. Located on the corner of Ninth and Broad Streets, the original six-story 1912 building was built with an elaborate exterior limestone façade that features three-story Corinthian-style pilasters. Tuskegee Airmen Global Academy Gets Facelift

Atlanta Public Schools has selected JE Dunn Construction for a $27.6-million project to build a new school to house the Tuskegee Airmen Global Academy, located in Atlanta, Georgia. The new elementary school building will replace a 43-year-old facility, which will be preserved for another use, and will give the school greater street visibility. Features of the 107,747-square-foot, three-story replacement building, which will accommodate a full-time enrollment of 753, include a main entry/lobby space with a gallery, media center, cafeteria, gymnasium with stage, specialty classrooms, STEM and flight simulator labs and outdoor lab/classroom space. Ribbon Cutting Celebrated at Olentangy Berlin High School

DELAWARE, Ohio  – Officials from Olentangy Local School District, Gilbane Building Company and the community came together recently to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the newly completed Olentangy Berlin High School, located in Delaware, Ohio. This building is the fourth high school for Olentangy and will house 1,700 students. Expansion, Renovations Begin on University of Memphis Athletic Facility

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Turner Construction Company is beginning the first phase of a $10.6-million expansion and renovation of the University of Memphis’ athletic training facility on its Park Avenue campus in Tennessee. The project is the first phase of the indoor football practice facility, which will expand the Billy J. C.W. Driver Companies celebrated the groundbreaking of the Crown Valley Park Community Building, a 30,000-square-foot, three-story building in Laguna Niguel, California. The $25-million project marks the final phase of a three-tier improvement plan for Crown Valley Community Park, with full completion anticipated for spring 2020. The new facility will include offices, a multi-purpose room for up to 300 people, a kitchen, classrooms and other spaces designated for art, technology, dance and fitness.
