ABC’s Construction Backlog Indicator Jumps; Contractor Confidence Remains Steady

Associated Builders and Contractors reports that its Construction Backlog Indicator increased to 9 months in September, according to an ABC member survey conducted Sept. 20-Oct. 5. 2022 DCC Award Winners Announced

The Decorative Concrete Council announced the winners of its 14th annual Decorative Concrete International Awards competition. The winners were recognized at ASCC’s Annual Conference, September 29, in Cleveland, Ohio. Colorado Hardscapes won the WOW! Award, best overall project, for the USAFA Air Gardens, a restoration project to return the Air Force Academy’s Air Gardens, what had been the focal point of the cadet parade grounds, to its former glory. New Underground Utilities Prepare Way for Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Replacement Hospital

Largescale utility construction is underway in Torrance, California, at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center campus. The project is part of preparations for a replacement hospital, which is in the design phase. Abbott Construction is leading the make-ready utility portion of the project to support the new outpatient treatment and support building. The work goes deep underground, and includes electrical and telecommunication duct banks, domestic and fire water lines, storm system infrastructure and other low voltage utilities.
