McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. has completed construction on the Barbours Cut Terminal Container Yard 3N for the Port Houston Authority in Houston, Texas. The project is part of a modernization program to increase cargo handling efficiency. The container yard adds approximately 10 acres of new shipping container storage at the terminal complex. The company was tasked with a rehabilitation of the existing site which included new utility upgrades, new high-mast light poles and a realignment of the main interterminal access road through this area. Nonresidential Construction Spending Slightly Dips, Says ABC

National nonresidential construction spending was down by 0.6% in May, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors’ analysis of data published by the U.S. Census Bureau. On a seasonally adjusted annualized basis, nonresidential spending totaled $832.5 billion for the month. Spending was down on a monthly basis in 10 of the 16 nonresidential subcategories. Private nonresidential spending was down 0.4%, while public nonresidential construction spending was down 0.8% in May.
