AISC Celebrates Earth Day with Updated EPDs

To help celebrate Earth Day, the domestic structural steel industry has issued updated environmental product declarations to help designers and building owners design more environmentally friendly buildings and bridges. The American Institute of Steel Construction develops industry-average EPDs for three products: fabricated hot-rolled structural sections, fabricated steel plate, and fabricated hollow structural sections, with the latter developed in conjunction with the Steel Tube Institute. These documents are designed to facilitate an accurate, apples-to-apples comparison of the structural materials on the market today. Groundbreaking for San Mateo County’s First Navigation Center for the Homeless

Groundbreaking ceremonies for San Mateo County, California’s first “navigation center,” designed to provide temporary living units and intensive onsite support services for individuals and couples experiencing homelessness, were held in mid-April. For optimal time and cost efficiency, all the 102 sleeping modules, 27 support modules, bathroom units and two modular elevators will be prefabricated. Onsite construction is expected to take approximately eight months, with the entire project team’s goal to have clients off the street and enjoying their new space before the end of the year. MAX USA CORP Introduces 5.0Ah Batteries MAX USA CORP has introduced MAX JPL91450A /JPL92550A 5.0Ah batteries. The increased Ah allows for more ties and cuts per charge for the company’s rebar tying and cutting tools. Replacing the current 14.4V batteries, the new batteries will allow RB441T and RB611T to tie up to 5,000 ties, RB401T-E to tie up to 4,500 ties and RB398S to tie up to 4,000 ties in one charge.
