Michael G. Hernandez, P.E., DBIA, has joined the technical division of the American Society of Concrete Contractors as technical director. This position oversees all technical activities of the organization including serving as the technical voice for ASCC in verbal and written communication, providing technical support for the members and the organization and developing programming and resources to benefit the concrete contractor. ABC: Nonresidential Construction Spending Dips .5% in December

National nonresidential construction spending decreased by 0.5% in December, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data published by the U.S. Census Bureau. On a seasonally adjusted annualized basis, nonresidential spending totaled $943.5 billion for the month. Spending fell on a monthly basis in 10 of the 16 nonresidential subcategories. Private nonresidential spending was down .5%, while public nonresidential construction spending was down .4% in December.

Gilbane, Leftfield, Studio G Architects Tops Off Florence Roche Elementary School

Officials from Groton Public Schools, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Town of Groton joined students, educators and representatives from Leftfield, Studio G Architects and Gilbane Building Company to celebrate the official topping off of the 110,000-square-foot Florence Roche Elementary School.
