Meta, DPR Construction Launch Skilled Trades Training Program in Arizona

Meta and DPR Construction have partnered to bring Hardhat in Hand, Meta’s nationwide skilled trades training program, to Meta’s Mesa Data Center in Arizona. This paid, eight-week program focuses on recruiting new people to the construction trades and providing participants with fundamental knowledge relevant to all construction and skilled trade occupations. The program is run in partnership with the Maricopa County Community College District and the nonprofit Chicanos Por La Causa. Meta has been part of the Arizona community since breaking ground on its Mesa Data Center in 2021. According to DPR Construction, there will be 2,000 construction workers on site per day at peak. Blach Construction joined the Tanforan Assembly Center Memorial Committee to celebrate the unveiling of a historic memorial plaza and bronze statue to honor the 8,000 Bay Area residents of Japanese ancestry who were unjustly imprisoned at Tanforan “Assembly Center” during World War II. Construction Employment Increases by 16,000, ABC Says

The construction industry added 16,000 jobs on net in August, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors’ analysis of data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On a year-over-year basis, industry employment has risen by 311,000 jobs or 4.2%. Nonresidential construction employment rose by 4,300 positions on net, with positive growth in two of three subcategories. Nonresidential specialty trade added 5,600 net new jobs, while nonresidential building added 700 jobs. Heavy and civil engineering employment fell by 2,000 positions.
