The Steel Erectors Association of America has awarded the Ironworker Skills Institute, located in Pell City, Alabama, this year’s SEAA Craft Training Grant. Construction Begins at Tarrant County College’s Trinity River Campus in Texas
Construction on the Clearfork building at Tarrant County College’s Trinity River Campus in Fort Worth, Texas, has recently begun. The project team includes Sundt Construction, Inc., Bennett Benner Partners and JJA Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Consultants. Construction will include 123,000 square feet of renovation to four-and-a-half floors between two buildings on the Trinity Rivers campus. Dodge Momentum Index Flat in May
The Dodge Momentum Index moved a scant 0.1% lower in May to 129.2 (2000=100) from the revised April reading of 129.4. The momentum index, issued by Dodge Data & Analytics, is a monthly measure of the first (or initial) report for nonresidential building projects in planning, which have been shown to lead construction spending for nonresidential buildings by a full year. The commercial component of the momentum index rose 1.0% during the month, while the institutional component dropped 1.9%. Construction Employment Declines in Majority of Metro Areas, AGC Says New Transportation Proposal Could Help Restore Jobs
Construction employment declined in more than nine out of 10 metro areas from March to April, a time when industry employment typically increases in most locations, an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of new government data shows.
