Response from teachers following the Lift & Move USA event, hosted by NessCampbell Crane + Rigging last month, was positive. Lift & Move USA is an industry-led program to promote careers in the crane, rigging and specialized transportation sectors. It is organized by SC&RA, the SC&R Foundation, NCCCO and KHL Group. All those in attendance represented high school or post-secondary career and technical education programs. “The student guests were a highly qualified group. ALACHUA, Fla. —Boyd Worsham has been appointed as the NCCER president and began his position this month at NCCER’s headquarters in Alachua, Florida. Starting as a carpenter apprentice and rising through the ranks to vice president of a global company, Worsham embodies the enterprising spirit of the construction industry. Predicting worker exposure to jobsite hazards, such as silica, has historically been a challenge in construction. The construction industry lacks a system to help health and safety practitioners predict exposure to hazards and implement effective controls accordingly. Grand Opening Celebrated at Lovington Wellness Center

Robins & Morton, Nor-Lea Hospital District and the Lovington, New Mexico community celebrated the grand opening of the Nor-Lea Hospital District’s Lovington Wellness Center last month. The long-anticipated 40,000-square-foot project brings a new fitness and wellness space to the area. It features a competition pool, therapy pool, full-size basketball court, walking track, climbing wall, free weights, exercise machines and group fitness classes. Child care space was also included in the scope and is now a service offered to the all the members of the new center.

Ground Broken for New Marriott-Branded Hotel

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Design & Build/HBD Construction, Inc. team has been selected to build one of the first new hotels in downtown St. Louis, Missouri in years – Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new hotel was held last month. Equis Hotels is the developer on the $20-million hotel and parking garage project, with Chiodini Architects of St. Louis providing its design and Peak Construction Group serving as the construction manager.
