U.S. Department of Labor Posts New FAQs, Videos on OSHA Standard for Controlling Silica in Construction
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has made available online new frequently asked questions and training videos on the agency’s standard for respirable crystalline silica in construction. Developed by OSHA in cooperation with industry and labor organizations, the FAQs provide employers and workers with guidance on the standard’s requirements. In addition, a series of six new videos instruct users on methods for controlling exposure to silica dust when performing common construction tasks, or using construction equipment. Construction Employment Rises in 45 States, D.C. from July 2017 to July 2018
Forty-five states and the District of Columbia added construction jobs between July 2017 and July 2018, while 29 states and D.C. added construction jobs between June and July, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of Labor Department. Ribbon Cutting Celebrated at Olentangy Berlin High School
DELAWARE, Ohio – Officials from Olentangy Local School District, Gilbane Building Company and the community came together recently to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the newly completed Olentangy Berlin High School, located in Delaware, Ohio. This building is the fourth high school for Olentangy and will house 1,700 students. Gilbane served as construction manager at-risk for the $61.7-million project, which includes a new high school and several athletic fields.
