DELAWARE, Ohio  – Officials from Olentangy Local School District, Gilbane Building Company and the community came together recently to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the newly completed Olentangy Berlin High School, located in Delaware, Ohio. This building is the fourth high school for Olentangy and will house 1,700 students. Gilbane served as construction manager at-risk for the $61.7-million project, which includes a new high school and several athletic fields. Expansion, Renovations Begin on University of Memphis Athletic Facility

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Turner Construction Company is beginning the first phase of a $10.6-million expansion and renovation of the University of Memphis’ athletic training facility on its Park Avenue campus in Tennessee. The project is the first phase of the indoor football practice facility, which will expand the Billy J. Murphy Athletic Complex by 25,000 square feet and includes the renovation of adjacent areas within the complex, which are used for training by the university’s football and other collegiate sports teams. Projections Reveal Nonresidential Construction Spending to Grow

Spending on nonresidential buildings nationally increased only modestly last year, barely outpacing inflation in building costs. Halfway through the seventh year of continuous growth for the cyclical construction industry, 2018 might have looked to be the year that the industry would enter another recession. C.W. Driver Companies celebrated the groundbreaking of the Crown Valley Park Community Building, a 30,000-square-foot, three-story building in Laguna Niguel, California. The $25-million project marks the final phase of a three-tier improvement plan for Crown Valley Community Park, with full completion anticipated for spring 2020. The new facility will include offices, a multi-purpose room for up to 300 people, a kitchen, classrooms and other spaces designated for art, technology, dance and fitness. These types of injuries are a leading cause of disabling injuries in the construction industry.
