McCarthy Building Companies Inc.’s Renewable Energy team recently reached peak construction workforce on the Sun Streams 4 solar construction project, a 377 MWdc PV and 300 MWac/1200 MWh solar and 300MWac battery storage facility being developed by Longroad Energy, a U.S.-based renewable energy developer, owner and operator. McCarthy was selected as the engineering, procurement, construction contractor for the project, located approximately 40 miles west of Phoenix, Arizona. Gilbane Expands Rising Contractor Program, Building Opportunities for Diverse Businesses

Gilbane Building Company has expanded its Rising Contractor program, a 12-week program designed to build capacity in minority-owned, women-owned, disadvantaged, LGBTQ and veteran-owned construction companies. The program includes virtual and in-person training, as well as one-on-one mentor relationships. More than 245 companies nationwide have graduated from the program since 2020. Staff at M Health Fairview St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, Minnesota have faced a 5% rise in inpatient visits and a 12% increase in ED visits since 2022. With limited space, and a commitment to improve patient care while visits are only expected to grow, St. John’s staff improved patient flow by expanding the emergency department, reorganizing existing services and – now – opening a new short-stay and observation unit.
