LeChase Construction Services has begun the renovation and expansion of Open Door Family Medical Center facilities in two downtown Ossining, New York buildings. The buildings, at 2 Church St. and 165 Main St., sit across the street from each other, but are from vastly different eras. LeChase will freshen the 1970s stucco Church Street structure with a modern glass façade, but will preserve the front of the 19th-century Main Street building. AGC Charities, Sierra Pacific West and Make-A-Wish San Diego teamed up to lead dozens of volunteers to build a dedicated “man cave” for puzzles and hobbies to fulfill a local boy’s wish. The volunteer workday in La Jolla, California involved completing and painting the standalone, climate-controlled man cave in the boy’s back yard. All of the work was done free of charge. New Standard Available on MEP Systems Used in Off-site Construction

The International Code Council, in partnership with the Modular Building Institute, has published ICC/MBI 1210-2023, Standard for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Systems, Energy Efficiency and Water Conservation in Off-site Construction. This American National Standard is now part of ICC/MBI’s existing series of off-site construction standards, including ICC/MBI 1200-2021 and ICC/MBI 1205-2021. ICC/MBI Standard 1210 includes the componentization and modularization of elements of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and the incorporation of MEP systems in componentized, panelized or modularized building elements. AGC: Construction Employment Rises, Job Levels Reach Near Record Levels

Construction employment increased in 231 or 65% of 358 metro areas between January 2023 and January 2024, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of new government employment data.
