General contractor McCarthy Building Companies recently completed the fully commissioned AZ13 building for Vantage Data Centers, a provider of hyperscale data center campuses. AZ13 is the third of five planned data centers at Vantage’s AZ1 campus in Goodyear to be constructed and delivered by McCarthy’s Mission Critical team. The team is simultaneously celebrating the topping out of AZ14 on the same campus, which is expected to complete in summer 2026. ABC: Construction Job Openings Down Nearly 40% From a Year Ago
The construction industry had 249,000 job openings on the last day of October, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey. JOLTS defines a job opening as any unfilled position for which an employer is actively recruiting. Balfour Beatty’s Civils operations has been selected to deliver the approximately $60 million Bassett High School Stormwater Capture project in La Puente, California. Storms Suppress Nonresidential Construction Spending in October, Says ABC
National nonresidential construction spending decreased 0.4% in October, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data published today by the U.S. Census Bureau. On a seasonally adjusted annualized basis, nonresidential spending totaled $1.228 trillion. Spending was down on a monthly basis in 11 of the 16 nonresidential subcategories. New Study Examines Construction Worker Safety, Mental Health
Research findings indicate construction contractors continue to make progress responding to issues affecting worker safety and health, such as heat and mental health, but many areas for improvement remain. The new study, Safety Management in the Construction Industry 2023 SmartMarket Report, examines occupational safety and health challenges across the industry and shines a light where more effort is needed.
