HUD Unveils New Report to Overcome Barriers to Offsite Construction

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, in partnership with the National Institute of Building Sciences and MOD X, has released the Offsite Construction for Housing: Research Roadmap, a strategic report that presents the key knowledge gaps and research needs to overcome the barriers and challenges to offsite construction. Offsite construction has the potential to deliver more affordable and accessible single and multifamily housing at scale. However, offsite construction for housing in the U.S. faces several challenges to increase uptake and adoption. AISI Standards Council Establishes New Group to Address Energy Standards for Building Envelopes

The Standards Council of the American Iron and Steel Institute has formed a new group that will be primarily responsible for the ongoing development of AISI S250, North American Standard for Thermal Transmittance of Building Envelopes with Cold-Formed Steel Framing. The new Committee on Energy Standards falls under the administrative oversight of the AISI Standards Council, which also oversees the Committee on Specifications and the Committee on Framing Standards. Resiliency Project Addressing Sea Level Rise, Storm Damage Advances in Lower Manhattan

A project team comprised of a Turner Construction Company and E.E. Cruz joint venture, along with Arcadis, the Bjark Ingels Group, Scape Landscape Architecture and WSP was selected by the Battery Park City Authority for its North/West Resiliency Project in New York. The project aims to expand and enhance Battery Park City public spaces.
