South Carolina Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility for Justice-Involved Youth Tops Out

South Carolina’s new psychiatric residential treatment facility for justice-involved youth in Columbia, South Carolina has topped out. This effort was led by the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities’ Office of Mental Health, along with Construction Manager Agent Services from LCK. Project teammates placed the uppermost steel beam on the roof level of the one-story facility in addition to substantially completing the building’s structure. Once complete, the 24,000-square-foot facility will provide critical mental health and rehabilitation services for youth committed to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice, who have significant psychiatric treatment needs. Balfour Beatty Recognizes Live Traffic as Fifth Fatal Risk in Construction

Ahead of this year’s Construction Safety Week 2025, Balfour Beatty announced a groundbreaking safety initiative recognizing live traffic as a fifth fatal risk in construction, which expands beyond OSHA’s long-established Fatal Four (falls, struck-by objects, electrocution and caught-in/between). According to the Federal Highway Administration, there are approximately 105,000 vehicle crashes in work zones resulting in approximately 42,000 injuries per year. The Department of Transportation also reports that approximately 900 people lost their lives in work zone crashes in 2024. Balfour Beatty and Roseville City School District celebrated the groundbreaking of Winding Creek Elementary School on March 25 with a ceremonial dirt turning event. The new 71,130-square-foot facility will serve 650 students in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade, providing a learning environment designed to enhance educational opportunities for the Roseville community. General Contractor Selected to Deliver $168 Million in Student Housing Projects in Florida

Three major student housing projects in Southern and Central Florida, with a combined contract value of approximately $168 million, will be led by general contractor Balfour Beatty.
