MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Modjeski and Masters has been selected for the Statewide Movable Bridge contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation. As the prime consultant on this contract, Modjeski and Masters will perform as-needed detailed structural, mechanical, electrical and/or hydraulic inspections of movable bridges across the state of Michigan. Record Set for China’s Largest Concrete Pour during East China Bridge Project

The concrete pour has been completed during the construction of the pier base of a cable-stayed road-rail bridge in east China, marking the largest continuous concrete pour in China’s bridge construction history. “A total of 1.5-million cubic feet of concrete was poured to build a pier base of the size of 12 basketball courts, with 7,420 tons of steel bars used for the bridge connecting Shanghai and Nantong, Jiangsu Province,” said Liu Ziming, chairperson of the China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Corporation. RALEIGH, N.C. – Modjeski and Masters has been selected for the Structures Management Unit Support – Limited Services Contract with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Under this contract, Modjeski and Masters will perform bridge design, bridge preservation design, working drawing reviews, vessel collision and fender design, structure utility attachment design, load ratings and structural, electrical and mechanical design, inspection and rehabilitation of movable bridges on an as needed basis for NCDOT’s bridge program. World’s Longest Cross-Sea Bridge Nears Completion

BEIJING, China – Construction on the main portion of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge’s The Cross Harbor Tunnel has been completed. It is the world’s longest, deepest-buried tunnel in the seabed, and the most comprehensive, technically difficult immersed tube tunnel. The bridge will have a traffic permit at the end of 2017. After an official ceremony, reporters, along with the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge builder, traveled the tunnel in a battery car. This project selection continues Modjeski and Masters’ long-term relationship with MDOT on the Blue Water Bridge, a relationship that dates back to the mid-1930s when the firm’s co-founder, Ralph Modjeski, designed the first Blue Water Bridge.
