A major milestone has been achieved on the Port of Beaumont (Texas)’s Main Street Terminal 1 project — driving the last concrete pile after a year-long process. The milestone was recently commemorated with an event attended by officials from the Port of Beaumont, general contractor McCarthy Building Companies’ employees and trade partners. McCarthy’s project scope includes demolition of a collapsed dock structure and construction of a new general cargo dock with a roll-on/roll-off terminal. The topping out of UHealth at Doral, a six-story, 160,000-square-foot medical center being built in downtown Doral, Florida was recently celebrated. The facility is part of a mixed-use community in Miami-Dade County. When it opens, UHealth at Doral will include 33 exam rooms, eight operating rooms, three endoscopy suites, 33 cancer treatment units, comprehensive radiology services, a lab, onsite pharmacy, seven-story parking garage and supporting central energy plant. A major construction milestone was recently celebrated with the ceremonial topping off of the 976-room Signia by Hilton Atlanta, located in Georgia. Owned by Georgia World Congress Center Authority and managed by Hilton Management Services, Signia by Hilton Atlanta is the city’s largest downtown ground-up hotel development project in 40 years. The 453-foot-high hotel, built on the repurposed foundation of the Georgia Dome, will connect to the Georgia World Congress Center when it opens in January 2024. A topping out was recently held for phase one at High Street, the transit-oriented, mixed-use community rising in Atlanta, Georgia’s Central Perimeter. Important Milestone Reached on Seattle Aquarium Ocean Pavilion
Following two years of planning and construction, the concrete pour of the main tank of the $160-million Ocean Pavilion at Washington’s Seattle Aquarium is complete. The tank is two feet thick at minimum and includes 680 cubic yards of concrete and 355 tons of rebar – four times more rebar than a typical core.
