Gilbane Building Company joined Hudson River Park in celebrating the groundbreaking of the Pier 26 Science Play Area in New York City. Gilbane is managing construction of the recreational space in Hudson River Park. The groundbreaking was marked by a ceremony held at Pier 26 on Dec. 14. The 4,000-square-foot marine science-themed space is the beneficiary of a private fundraising campaign by Hudson River Park Friends and will feature custom, interactive sculptural elements where children can learn, play and be inspired by wildlife and the Hudson River habitat. Gilbane Building Company joined NYC Parks, NYC Economic Development Corporation and Bronx elected and community officials, to break ground on the $87-million Orchard Beach Pavilion project to restore the historic 140,000-square-foot space. The groundbreaking was celebrated with a ceremony on Dec. 13 at Orchard Beach. Gilbane is serving as the construction manager for the renovation project. The three primary objectives for the project are to restore the historic architecture of the landmarked building, provide greater ADA access and provide welcoming and viable amenities for the community. Gilbane Building Company has been selected by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts as the Construction Manager at Risk, charged with planning and supervising construction of the museum’s upcoming renovation and expansion project, which includes the James W. and Frances G. McGlothlin Wing II, the largest expansion in its history. The joint venture of Gilbane Building Company and Turner Construction Company in association with 34 Group, has been selected by Pegula Sports & Entertainment to provide construction management of the planned new NFL stadium for the Buffalo Bills in Orchard Park, New York. Michael Driscoll School Tops Out in Massachusetts

Officials from the Public Schools of Brookline joined students, alumni, families, educators, neighbors and representatives from Leftfield, Jonathan Levi Architects and Gilbane Building Company to celebrate the topping out of the 155,000-sqaure-foot Michael Driscoll School in Brookline, Massachusetts. The facility will address concerns regarding a growing student population within the district, accommodating nearly 800 students in grades pre-kindergarten through eighth.
