The topping out of UHealth at Doral, a six-story, 160,000-square-foot medical center being built in downtown Doral, Florida was recently celebrated. The facility is part of a mixed-use community in Miami-Dade County. When it opens, UHealth at Doral will include 33 exam rooms, eight operating rooms, three endoscopy suites, 33 cancer treatment units, comprehensive radiology services, a lab, onsite pharmacy, seven-story parking garage and supporting central energy plant. The $243-million, five-story Banner Gateway Medical Center tower expansion project, located in Gilbert, Arizona, is complete. The expansion doubles the size of the medical center campus and is expected to add more than 600 new jobs to the campus. McCarthy Building Companies served as the general contractor on the project. The Northeast Texas Cancer and Research Institute in Tyler, Texas recently topped out. A Cottonwood Development project, the 85,000-square-foot research facility is located on the CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Tyler campus and will provide outpatient care to surrounding communities. The Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District, selected Turner Construction Company and Walsh Construction to build an $840-million, full-service medical center to serve military veterans in Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to the construction of the new 104-bed, 910,115-square-foot medical center, the project includes parking structures, central utility plant, roadways, sidewalks and other site improvements.
