The International Code Council and the Modular Building Institute have published two new comprehensive standards that will accelerate the offsite construction industry. ICC/MBI 1200-2021 Standard for Off-Site Construction: Planning, Design, Fabrication and Assembly and ICC/MBI 1205-2021 Standard for Off-Site Construction: Inspection and Regulatory Compliance are intended to promote consistency around the globe of regulatory requirements for offsite construction processes. Modular Mobilization Coalition Delivers 1st Multifamily Modular Construction Project in Washington, D.C. Area
The Modular Mobilization Coalition recently delivered the first multifamily modular construction project in the Petworth area of Washington, D.C. The Petworth Modo project consists of 44 modular units that will be stacked into a five-story building containing 16 apartments. The building is anticipated to be move-in ready by the end of 2020. The modular project is expected to be completed in 10 months compared to a 12-16-month timeline using traditional site-built construction methods. A 17,284-square-foot Temporary Flying Squadron Facility for the 33d Flying Training Squadron at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma is complete. Ramtech Building Systems served as Design-Build firm on the project. The single-story modular building complex will be used for pilot training as part of a program aimed at increasing the graduation rate to address the shortage of pilots that exists within the U.S. Air Force.
