NCCER Announces Fifth Annual I Built This! Construction Video Contest

NCCER and Build Your Future have announced the fifth annual I BUILT THIS! video contest. Designed to help promote construction as an industry of choice, the contest illustrates the unique perspective of trainees or students and allows them to share videos of their projects. Craft instructors are invited to add the video contest into their curriculum for the fall as an excellent opportunity to allow students, trainees and instructors to show off their skills and gain attention for school programs. Haselden Wins National Safety Excellence Award

Haselden Construction recently won the Associated General Contractors of America Willis Towers Watson Construction Safety Excellence Award. The company, which at the time of application had more than 500 employees who worked more than one million man hours on jobsites in Colorado and Wyoming in 2018, competed against construction companies nationwide of similar or larger size. NCCER Releases New Construction Superintendent Certification Program

NCCER has released a new superintendent assessment and is partnering with FMI to offer a joint certification to qualified professionals in the superintendent field. The assessment was developed in conjunction with subject matter experts for professionals whose primary role is to oversee the operations of a construction site from planning to completion. This joint certification encompasses both the NCCER assessment, which recognizes the knowledge of these professionals, and the FMI Field Leadership Institute that provides hands-on interactive education and experiences. Construction Industry Salaries on the Rise

ALACHUA, Fla. — Skilled craft professionals continue to earn high wages, according to NCCER’s 2018 Construction Craft Salary Survey. More than 130 industrial and commercial construction companies across the U.S., representing over 350,000 employees, participated in the survey. The individual craft areas reported provide average annual salaries, not including overtime, per diem, bonuses or other incentives. Of the 32 construction positions surveyed, average annual salaries ranged from $47,700 to $92,500. Project supervisors and program managers topped the list, earning over $88,000 and $92,500 respectively.
