HOCHTIEF, together with its partner Implenia, has been awarded a major contract by Deutsche Bahn for the second main line of the S-Bahn rail network in Munich (Germany). The new project mainly involves connecting the Ostbahnhof station with the Marienhof stop in the heart of the Bavarian capital. Both companies each have a 50% share in the Tunnel Ostbahnhof consortium. Skanska Rehabilitates Rail Transit Infrastructure in NE Region
Skanska has signed a contract with Amtrak to rehabilitate and restore maintenance facilities for the Next Generation Acela 21 high-speed rail service in Washington, D.C.; Boston, Massachusetts and New York. The contract is worth about $40 million. The three maintenance facilities were initially built by the general contractor 20 years ago. The rehabilitation will include structural modifications and industrial equipment upgrades to accommodate the new trains being placed into service in 2021. Construction began in February 2020 and is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2021.
CIMIC Group Wins $725M Regional Rail Project
CIMIC Group companies Pacific Partnerships, UGL and CPB Contractors, as part of the Momentum Trains consortium, have been selected by Transport for NSW to deliver the $1.26-billion Regional Rail Project as a design, build, finance and maintain contract. The consortium will deliver a new regional rail fleet and a new maintenance facility in Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia.
