During construction of the new underground U5 line in Hamburg, Germany, U5 GmbH will use steel fiber-reinforced concrete segments in tunnel construction for the first time in Germany, marking a major milestone for the project. These prefabricated concrete components, used to line and stabilize tunnels, reduce traditional steel reinforcement by replacing steel bars with finely distributed steel fibers within the concrete. HOCHTIEF Awarded Contract for German Armed Forces’ University Campus
HOCHTIEF has been awarded a contract by the Federal Building Department to act as project partner in the development of the Helmut Schmidt University campus of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg. The entire project has an investment volume in the billion-Euro range. HOCHTIEF is responsible for demolition, extended shell construction and façade work on the “Campus DOK” project. The Siemensbahn, a historic landmark of Berlin, Germany’s transport infrastructure, is being reactivated after more than 40 years of disuse. ZÜBLIN AG implemented the construction project as general contractor on behalf of CMF Capital GmbH and EPISO 5, a fund managed by Tristan Capital Partners. Inspire Neukölln, a sustainably designed office complex with a total gross floor area of 30,000 square meters, is located on the site of a former printing works. Germany’s first YEXIO data center has entered operation – a milestone for sustainable digital infrastructure.
