CHICAGO, Ill. – Mortenson Construction is launching a major renovation and expansion of Harper College’s sports and wellness center to create a state-of-the-art health and recreation center for the Palatine, Illinois community college and Chicago’s northwest suburbs. The $38-million project includes constructing the shell and core of a 10,000-square-foot addition planned to house a medical clinic run by Northwest Community Healthcare for students, faculty, staff and area residents. Daytona International Speedway Grandstand Wins Construction Project of 2016

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The renovation of the Daytona International Speedway’s grandstand was the most significant construction project of 2016, according to the Associated General Contractors of America. As a result, the project’s contractor, Barton Malow Company, received the association’s Alliant Build America Grand Award, as well as the award for the best utility infrastructure renovation project of the year. Renovations at The Woodruff Institute Completed

FORT MYERS, Fla. – R.D. Johnson Construction, Inc. has completed the second-floor renovations, under budget, at The Woodruff Institute for Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery, located in Bonita Springs, Florida. The project was an interior renovation of 2,134 square feet of existing medical office space and 1,600 square feet of white shell space. The existing medical office space remained open and in operation throughout the length of the renovations. The R.D. Construction Begins on New Pima Animal Care Center

TUCSON, Ariz. – Construction of a new shelter is underway at Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson, Arizona. Sundt Construction, Inc. recently began the first phase of the project. The new shelter will be approximately 60,000 square feet. Nearly 93 percent of the total area is allocated to functions that directly house or support the housing, care and adoption of pets at PACC. Completion of Freedom Center Adds to South Huntsville Revitalization Efforts

Turner Construction Company has completed the Freedom Center in southeast Huntsville, Alabama. Freedom Real Estate and Capital developed the Freedom Center using previously acquired properties at 4090 South Memorial Parkway and 4035 Chris Drive as the cornerstones. The project is part of an effort to revitalize South Huntsville. The city of Huntsville has been working to reclaim, modernize and upgrade Memorial Parkway to encourage investment and redevelopment in the area.
