Skanska Completes North Carolina Surgical Hospital in Chapel Hill

UNC Health’s North Carolina Surgical Hospital has been completed. Rising seven-stories and spanning 375,000 square feet, Surgical Hospital is the largest addition to the Chapel Hill campus since it was built in 1952. Designed by Page and built by Skanska, the new surgical hospital offers 26 operating rooms, four of which are hybrid size operating rooms to accommodate additional equipment and technology for newly developed procedures, 59 pre- and post-operating rooms ,as well as two floors of ICU space with 80 beds. Construction Begins on University of North Texas Science and Technology Building

Construction has started on the University of North Texas Science and Technology Building on the university’s main campus in Denton, Texas. Construction is expected to be completed in spring 2026. Skanska is serving as the project’s general contractor. The 110,000-square foot, $87 million new building will fulfill a critical need for more modern facilities that support collaborative and interdisciplinary research on campus. A facility in Ohio that was formerly a hospital for Shriner’s has been transformed into the Blood Cancer Healing Center, a new space for patients served by the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center. The existing masonry façade has been sealed and restored, preserving the building’s historical integrity while ensuring modern functionality. The facility offers every aspect of care — from inpatient and outpatient services to survivorship, integrative medicine, spiritual support and cutting-edge research — all under one roof. Skanska Breaks Ground on Mass Timber Building in Cincinnati

Skanska and Cincinnati Public Radio broke ground on the Cincinnati Public Radio Headquarters in Ohio. Once complete, the new HQ will be the first two-story mass timber building in the Midwest and the first of its kind in Cincinnati. The $32-million, 35,000-square-foot building will feature two on-air studios, two interview studios, one performance studio, 11,000 square feet of office space and a public gathering area.
